Understanding Class D Licensing Scope and Capabilities
An Ontario Class D driver’s licence permits an individual to operate any straight motor vehicle exceeding 11,000 kilograms gross weight or registered gross weight. Furthermore, a Class D licence holder can operate a combination unit provided the towed vehicle does not exceed a total gross weight of 4,600 kilograms. As an added benefit, holding a valid Class D licence automatically encompasses all operational privileges granted under a standard Class G licence. This versatile qualification opens doors to numerous regional transport opportunities, including operating straight trucks, dump trucks, cement mixers, and garbage trucks across municipal and regional routes.
At Freeway Truck & Forklift Training Academy Inc., we ensure you develop a thorough understanding of vehicle dimensions, weight distribution principles, and safety compliance required for commercial operations.
